Meet the Artist

Lane Friend

Lane friend is an artist who specializes in oil & digital painting.

As one can see from his work, one of the main motives of his art is feminine beauty, he is often inspired by the strong women in his family. His family has a blend of Romani, American, and European cultures, coming to America fairly recently, the earliest immigrating to the states in the 1850s, while the majority traversed the Atlantic in the early to mid 20th century. Growing up in a small cattle town in southern Florida, he feels at home around livestock and wildlife. He grew up in a spiritual family of both Baptist and Catholic members, the fusion of which resulted in a household that held a strong relationship with God and Jesus over the traditional views of religion. All of this accumulates in his work; Wild and domestic animals, culture, symbolism, as well as Florida landscapes often populate the premises of his paintings. His interest in cultural anthropology and history add grounding elements and layers of  hidden meanings to his art.

He first discovered digital painting at 15 while studying traditional mediums like oils and ceramics at a Fine Arts centered high school in New England. After graduating from college  with an associates degree in Fine Arts, and a BA in Anthropology, he focuses on making work inspired by culture, using both oil and digital painting mediums.

Lane  is currently working on a freelance basis and can be contacted for fine art commissions and/or commercial inquiries at friendlane.art@gmail.com
